Do you like soccer (or, as the rest of the world calls it, football)? Dirk does in a big way, and it has become a family affair.

Dirk's son Roland and 2 friends have started Legend Soccer Company,  developing innovative, sustainable soccer gear (and only soccer gear). Learn about Legend Soccer Company at the link above. Dirk not only endorses Legend Soccer, he's involved with it - "and not only because Roland is my son."

And furthermore...

Ain't it about time for an update?

I get introspective sometimes and think about posting those musings here, but there really isn't anything new to tell. Having already described my emerging from depression, you know I'm getting better all the time (OK, yes, there are evenings spent on games rather than work, but I'm doing better than I was). I'm exercising more than I used to (which, particularly at my age, is a good thing). I'm feeling pretty good. Well, except for this cold...

I've mapped out a new look for the site. There, I've said it out loud. Yes, I'm pretending to be a web designer.

I've put together a new opening page for the site, something bright and simple, and once I get the technical stuff down and working I'll be able to upload it AND start carrying that look over to all the existing pages.

To get this far I've had to develop a whole new skill set, learn the basics of Gimp (and how to compose composite images), and now I have to learn how JavaScript works, which is giving me fits because it demands my full attention but almost every opportunity I have to study it's late and my eyes are already slamming shut... I have two 2-inch-thick books on my desk in front of me now on PHP and Javascript and they are real snorers – but I really want to learn this.

And the only way I'm going to learn it is to do it. So that's what's happening.

Boy, some of the screw-ups are frustrating, too... One letter or number off and nothing works...

But I'll get it.

Anyway, what's making me the most eager to keep building is that I'm having more and more fun with everything that's going on here, on the Facebook page, and on Twitter; you guys rock! I wish I had enough stuff that I could post something new every day, but sometimes I have to just enjoy what others are talking about (and sometimes putting in my two cents, too ). We've got a community here.

Which gives me another thought...

Good to hear you are conquering your depression and it's longer lasting effects. Just take your time to properly heal. One day at a time.

Talking about flash and java. Did you know that the newer browsers don't support the chat room because it's too old?

Exercise is amazing for your emotional health!!! I say this from experience... I'm glad you are feeling better. I didn't know you suffered from depression. Also... I didn't know you had a blog. Lol

I tried to teach myself basic programming once for work. I didn't have the patience or the aptitude for it. I wish you better luck!

I'm a little late to the party, but somehow I didn't find out there were user blogs on here until today LOL. Hope you are still doing well and your ideas for the site are coming together. I'm not a programmer but I'm pretty tech-minded as long as it's WYSIWYG, so if there's anything I can do to help, just say the word.

Little late to the party? I guess, I missed it completely.

Blogging is new to me. Diaries were what people used. However, when what you write is used against you, you learn not to write it down. I'm learning not to accept that.

Depression runs in my family. If there's anything I can do to help, let me know. Even if it's testing new setups or fixing account glitches.
