"For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:
a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace." - King Solomon, Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 |

Writing quotes published on a favorite writing blog today:
“Every writer is a frustrated actor who recites his lines in the hidden auditorium of his skull.” ― Rod Serling “Open your mind to new experiences, particularly to the study of other *people. Nothing that happens to a writer–however happy, however tragic–is ever wasted.” ― P.D. James |

"I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality... I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word." |

Re: "Quotables"
This quote was referenced in an assigned reading for my Intercultural Communication class, but really, it applies to all human interactions on a deep, almost moving, level.
“Listening is a rare happening among human beings. You cannot listen to the word another is speaking if you are preoccupied with your appearance or impressing the other, or if you are trying to decide what you are going to say when the other stops talking, or if you are debating about whether the word being spoken is true or relevant or agreeable. Such matters may have their place, but only after listening to the word as the word is being uttered. Listening, in other words, is a primitive act of love, in which a person gives self to another’s word, making self accessible and vulnerable to that word.” -William Stringfellow |

We never know how high we are
Till we are called to rise; And then, if we are true to plan, Our statures touch the skies— The Heroism we recite Would be a daily thing, Did not ourselves the Cubits warp For fear to be a King— ~ Emily Dickinson |

** "Cubits" here is a unit of measure, not a BSG reference ;)
