Confirmed: DNA From Genetically Modified Crops Are Transferred Into Humans Who Eat Them

In a new study published in the peer reviewed Public Library of Science (PLOS), researchers emphasize that there is sufficient evidence that meal-derived DNA fragments carry complete genes that can enter into the human circulation system through an unknown mechanism. (0)

It’s interesting to ponder if the scientists at these biotech corporations have already identified this method? In one of the blood samples the relative concentration of plant DNA is higher than the human DNA.

The study was based on the analysis of over 1000 human samples from four independent studies. PLOS is an open access, well respected peer-reviewed scientific journal that covers primary research from disciplines within science and medicine. It’s great to see this study published in it, confirming what many have been suspecting for years.

When it comes to genetically modified crops and foods, we really have no idea of what the long term effects will be on the public. The very first commercial sale of genetically modified foods was only twenty years ago in the year 1994.

There is no possible way that our health authorities can test all possible combinations on a large enough population, over a long enough period of time to be able to say with certainty that they are harmless. Geneticist David Suzuki recently expressed his concern, saying that human beings are part of a “massive genetic experiment” over many years, as thousands of people continue to consume GMO’s, and it makes sense.

Advances in genome science over the past few years have revealed that organisms can share their genes. Prior to this, it had been thought that genes were shared only between individual members of a species through reproduction. Geneticists usually followed the inheritance of genes in what they would call a ‘vertical’ fashion, such as breeding a male and female -you follow their offspring and continue down the road from there.

Today, scientists recognize that genes are shared not only among the individual members of a species, but also among members of different species.

Our bloodstream is considered to be an environment well separated from the outside world and the digestive tract. According to the standard paradigm large macromolecules consumed with food cannot pass directly to the circulatory system. During digestion proteins and DNA are thought to be degraded into small constituents, amino acids and nucleic acids, respectively, and then absorbed by a complex active process and distributed to various parts of the body through the circulation system. Here, based on the analysis of over 1000 human samples from four independent studies, we report evidence that meal-derived DNA fragments which are large enough to carry complete genes can avoid degradation and through an unknown mechanism enter the human circulation system. In one of the blood samples the relative concentration of plant DNA is higher than the human DNA. The plant DNA concentration shows a surprisingly precise log-normal distribution in the plasma samples while non-plasma (cord blood) control sample was found to be free of plant DNA.

It’s not like a human being mates with an apple, banana or a carrot plant and exchanges genes. What biotechnology and biotech corporations like Monsanto have done, is they have allowed for the transfer of genes from one to the other without any regard for the biological limitations, or constraints. The problem with this is that it is based on very bad science.

The conditions and biological ‘rules’ that apply to vertical gene transfer, at least those that we are aware of, do not necessarily apply to horizontal gene transfer. Biotech science today is based on the assumption that the principles governing the inheritance of genes are the same when we move genes horizontally as they are when they are moved vertically.

It just goes to show that GMO’s should be subjected to much more experimentation and rigorous research before we continue to consume them.

How can our governing health authorities approve these as safe? It’s almost as if they told us they were safe, and we just believed them without questioning it. We seem to be a very gullible race, but things are changing and more are starting to question the world around them.

It’s also pretty clear that DNA from food can and does end up in animal tissues and the milk products that people eat. (4)(5)

There are studies that show when humans or animals digest genetically modified foods, the artificially created genes transfer into and alter the character of the beneficial bacteria in the intestine. Researchers report that microbes found in the small bowel of people with ilestomy are capable of acquiring and harboring DNA sequences from GM plants.(1)

Genetically modified crops have infiltrated animal feed since 1996, and it’s normal for them to have a complete GM diet. Studies have linked GMO animal feed to severe stomach inflammation and enlarged uteri in pigs.

It’s also important to note that gene transfer among genetically engineered agricultural crops and surrounding native species has given rise to a highly resistant species called super weeds. According to the world health organization, gene transfer and the movement of genes from GM plants into conventional crops or related species may have an effect on food safety and food security.

“This risk is real, as was shown when traces of maize type which was only approved for feed use appeared in maize products from human consumption in the United States.” (3)

The truth is, genetic engineers have never taken the reality of gene transfer into consideration when they produce these things and introduce them into the environment. As a result, we are now starting to see the consequences of genes that are engineered, particularly how they spread and alter other organisms in various environments. Watrud et al (2004) found that the herbicide-resistance transgene spread via pollen to an area up to 21 km beyond the control area perimeter and had pollinated wild creeping bentgrass.(2)

Prior to this year, governments concluded that transfer of DNA from GM crops/foods is unlikely to occur. Now we can see that they are wrong, or perhaps they had knowledge of this already?

Regardless of the fact that DNA from GM foods can be transferred to humans and animals, very little is still known today and what is known does not look good.

There are studies linking GMO’s and pesticides to various ailments. We’ve presented and written about them on our website numerous times, this is another article to add to the growing amount of evidence to suggest we need to halt the production of GMO’s until we conclusively know that they are safe for human consumption.

It’s not a mystery why most countries around the world have completely banned GMO’s.

(NaturalNews) After having now analyzed over 1,000 foods, superfoods, vitamins, junk foods and popular beverages for heavy metals and other substances at the Natural News Forensic Food Labs, I have arrived at a conclusion so alarming and urgent that it can only be stated bluntly.

Based on what I am seeing via atomic spectroscopy analysis of all the dietary substances people are consuming on a daily basis, I must now announce that the battle for humanity is nearly lost. The food supply appears to be intentionally designed to end human life rather than nourish it.


LIFE-DESTROYING TOXINS INTENTIONALLY ENGINEERED INTO THE FOOD SUPPLY

My lab has uncovered scientific proof that substances are intentionally formulated into dietary products to drive consumers mentally insane while causing widespread infertility, organ damage and a loss of any ability to engage in rational, conscious thinking. These toxic substances are being found across the entire food supply including in conventional foods, organic foods, "natural" products and dietary supplements.

This goes far beyond the mere contamination of foods with heavy metals -- a subject which is grave all by itself. Rather, this is about the intentional formulation of toxic substances into products consumed by the masses on a regular basis.

The result is what you see unfolding around you right now: mass insanity, incredible escalations of criminality among political operatives, clinical insanity among an increasing number of mainstream media writers and reporters, widespread infertility in young couples, skyrocketing rates of kidney failure and dialysis patients, plus a near total loss of rational thinking among the voting masses.

The effects of this are devastating to human civilization: the collapse of a capable workforce, the rise of the masses dependent on government for survival, the collapse of free democracies due to the cognitive retardation of the voting masses, an exploding prison population and the rise of for-profit corporate prison systems, and even the near complete collapse of any ability of the news-consuming public to parse and comprehend even the most basic information such as national debt figures.

The long-term effects of this widespread food poisoning phenomenon will be the utter downfall of modern human civilization for numerous reasons ranging from economic non-sustainability to environmental destruction and the global rise of political violence as we are seeing right now in Kiev.

As more and more lab results have been documented here at the Natural News Forensic Food Lab, it has become increasingly apparent to me that humanity cannot survive the mass engineered poisoning of the food supply.

You are, of course, being expertly distracted from all this with Powerball jackpots, tabloid celebrity news, staged political drama and of course the all-time favorite distraction of every crumbling empire: violent sports.


WHAT WE'RE FINDING IN FOODS, VITAMINS, AND SUPPLEMENTS

What I've published so far just barely scratches the surface of what we are finding. Here's an overview of some of the incredibly shocking findings we have now documented:

* The now-infamous "yoga mat chemical" used by Subway in their breads is also widely used across the fast-food industry. McDonald's, Chik-Fil-A, Wendy's, Arby's and many other restaurants also use the chemical azodicarbonamide which is linked to cancer. Importantly, this is not a contaminant. This is an ingredient which is intentionally added to the recipes in order for the chemical to be consumed by the masses.

• There is no logical reason why chemicals like azodicarbonamide need to be added to recipes of fast food breads and buns. The chemical serves no necessary functional or nutritive purpose. It seems to exists solely for the purpose of delivering the chemical to hundreds of millions of consumers by blending it into popular fast foods. The sandwiches in which this chemical is found are merely delivery mechanisms for toxic substances that harm human biology.

• Many mainstream, popular vitamin brands are intentionally spiked with such high levels of copper that if taken on a daily basis, they will cause mental insanity and psychosis. Some of these vitamin brands are routinely advertised on television to the mainstream masses, encouraging them to consume the vitamins, many of which are manufactured by companies owned in full or part by pharmaceutical interests.

• A popular dietary herb designed to improve brain performance actually contains very high levels of lead in most products we tested (which were sourced from China). Lead is a toxic heavy metal that damages brain function. In this way, people who are suffering from early dementia or Alzheimer's are actually accelerated toward brain destruction via certain herbal supplements which appear designed to deliver toxic heavy metals to the brain. It was truly shocking to me to discover that "brain herbs" contain so much lead that they contribute to brain damage.

• At the same time, we found that the very same "brain herb," when grown in the USA, contains virtually no heavy metals. This is proof that the herb does not "naturally" absorb heavy metals as if by magic. Interestingly, the highest levels of brain-damaging metals are consistently found in herbs imported from China. I'm openly asking this question: Is there a covert heavy metals war being waged against America by China? After all, poisoning the population with heavy metals is a very effective way to collapse a nation by destroying the sanity and health of its people. (More on this topic later...)

• Popular children's vitamins sold in nearly every grocery store and pharmacy across America are especially formulated to be incredibly toxic to developing neurology. The number of synthetic, toxic chemicals added to nearly every popular brand of children's vitamins is truly staggering, and many of them seem to be selected for their ability to target and disrupt neurological function. From a purely scientific point of view, these "vitamins" would honestly have to be called "poison pills," yet parents are encouraged to feed them to their children every single day as part of a modern-day health ritual that actually causes long-term harm.

• At our atomic spectroscopy lab, we have confirmed trace levels of aluminum in regular atmospheric air, confirming the fact that all agricultural soils are being inundated with aluminum which is literally falling out of the sky. This is not merely aluminum in our laboratory air, as many labs contain aluminum floors or furniture, causing an unusually high aluminum concentration in laboratory air. Rather, parts per billion concentrations of aluminum have been measured in regular atmospheric air sampled far from any building or laboratory. The result of this phenomenon is that aluminum levels are rising in nearly all soil-grown crops from which everyday food is derived. While aluminum is far less harmful than lead, cadmium or mercury, the repeated accumulation of aluminum is believed to be tied to degenerative brain disorders across the population.

• As Natural News readers already know, GM corn is engineered to grow a deadly toxin inside each and every grain of corn. This deadly toxin is then consumed by all the people who unknowingly eat genetically engineered crops via breakfast cereals, corn tortillas, corn snack chips, etc. This mass poisoning of the population is clearly intentional, as it is deliberately engineered into the crops which are grown for the sole purpose of human and animal consumption. This mass poisoning is not accidental, in other words, and in fact the technology is promoted under the justification that it will "feed the world." Indeed it will feed the world... poison.


FOOD HAS BECOME A WEAPON AGAINST HUMANITY

As you can see from these examples, food has become a weapon against humanity. It is the new vector for a stealth world war against humankind -- a war which is being quietly waged right this very moment with weapons you would probably find in your own pantry.

World War I was fought primarily in the trenches, with soldiers slinging chunks of lead at each other and using crude chemical weapons like mustard gas.

World War II was fought with a genocidal intention, using more advanced kinetic weapons and chemical weapons engineered by pharmaceutical companies.

Our of World War II and the Nazi era came IG Farben, the chemical-pharma conglomerate which was later split into three companies, one of which is now known as Bayer, the same company that makes children's aspirin and various chemicals used throughout the food supply. (Check your history. This is factual and true.)

World War III appears to already be underway, and it is being waged as a stealth war via the food supply. The chemicals are very similar to those used in World War I and World War II except that instead of being deployed on the battle field, today's chemical weapons are deployed via the food supply and often even listed right on ingredients labels.

Toxic ingredients like sodium nitrite and aspartame are formulated to work at sub-acute levels so they don't cause people to drop dead right away. Instead, they cause the chronic, long-term degenerative collapse of body and mind, leaving behind a wake of global cancer, kidney failure and extreme mental disorders including psychosis. This damage to body and mind, in turn, destroys economies, education systems, scientific advancement, free democracies and even cultural integrity.


THE SILENT FOOD BOMBING OF HUMANITY

What the United States Air Force did to Dresden in World War II via high-elevation bombing runs, the global chemical and food conglomerates are now doing to the world populations via the drive-thru window. But there are no bombs dropping out of the sky and there are no firestorms lighting up the cityscape at night. Instead, the silent, ignorant masses are simply marched to their deaths, one meal at a time, almost like a cargo train full of "useless eaters" clicking and clacking its way to Auschwitz.

On the way to their own deaths, of course, they pay the mandatory tolls to the pharmaceutical giants, hospitals, cancer clinics, doctors and health insurance mandates. Much like victims of Nazi genocide had their gold fillings pulled out of their mouths before they were gassed to death, today's mainstream consumers are emptied of their bank accounts, assets and insurance policies before finally being discarded by the system.

There are tremendous profits to be made, you see, from first poisoning the masses and then "treating" them for the side effects of that poisoning. This racket is so massive and so deeply embedded into our greed-driven culture that very few people even recognize it's happening to them. But make no mistake: You are not valued by the system for your humanity, your spirit, your innovation or your imagination. You are only valued for your tax base at first, and then ultimately your "disease management profits" which enrich global corporations while you are poked, prodded, dosed, irradiated and drugged to death while the hospital racks up page after page of medical procedure billings codes which will be covered by Medicare... or Obamacare.


HERE'S THE WAY OUT: GROW YOUR OWN FOOD

Sound too grim to be true? Let's look at some solutions on the positive side. The way out of all this is to grow your own food or at least buy as much as you can from local farmers and CSAs. Any food acquired through mainstream corporate sources is likely to be intentionally engineered, laced and packaged with incredibly toxic poisons ranging from heavy metals to hormone disrupting packaging containers. But food grown by honest farmers provides genuine nourishment, not death.

In fact, the future of human civilization almost certainly belongs exclusively to those who either grow their own food or make arrangements for others to grow it for them. The factory-made food consumed by the masses is quite truly a poison delivery system that has no purpose other than mass disease, death and profit.

If you wish to avoid being a victim of this system, you must avoid its products. Stop buying packaged processed foods. Utterly avoid all processed meats containing sodium nitrite, including bacon, hot dogs, sausage, ham, deli meats, pepperoni pizza and even beef jerky.

Stop drinking all diet soda, obviously. Aspartame is toxic to biology. All artificial sweeteners have harmful side effects if consumed in sufficient quantity.

Be skeptical of "natural" products which are heavily processed and refined in some way. Ask about countries of origin. Check heavy metals lab results to stay informed.

Except for rare exceptions, stop buying superfoods and supplements made in China, the world's most polluted food producer. The U.S. natural products industry has practically been taken over by China over the last decade, and much of what you think is safe and organic is actually heavily polluted, either accidentally or deliberately, in mainland China.



LOOK AROUND YOU AT THE EVIDENCE RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOUR EYES

Or maybe you think I'm the crazy one in mentioning any of this. If that's the case, I encourage you to look around you and see the results of what happens to people when they eat yoga mat chemicals, aspartame-laced diet sodas, synthetic food preservatives and cheap vitamins contaminated with heavy metals. Unless you are living in a complete state of denial, you can't help but notice that humanity has become a race of near-mutants who barely have a shred of health and sanity remaining.

A modern young man growing up today in America and living on processed foods is little more than a shadow of the strong, vibrant young men who worked the farms just three generations ago. Today's generation of youth is pathetic, weak, academically inept and heavily pampered with their video game consoles, Ritalin drugs and air-conditioned schools with a watered-down curriculum. In fact, the people all around you are over-medicated, over-fed and at the same time wildly malnourished. Their brains and bodies are heavily contaminated with destructive chemicals, heavy metals and synthetic materials. They have lost nearly all high cognitive functions and now survive on lower brain stem function which explains the radical rise in sex crimes, behavioral addictions, substance abuse and violent crime across society today. In a very real sense, the daily consumption of processed food has become a ritual of slow suicide mindlessly repeated everywhere that factory foods have invaded once-sane societies.

While Republicans blame Democrats, and Democrats blame Republicans, the truth is that they are all being systematically poisoned and thereby driven to precisely the kind of insanity we see played out across newspaper headlines and news broadcasts. We are far past the age of reason in the modern western world, and we will not survive this stealth war that releases weapons of dietary mass destruction with each tempting bite of seductive food that's engineered for death instead of life.

This is far beyond any single issue of labeling GMOs, or buying organic or testing foods for heavy metals. This is about how human civilization is being brought to its knees by the most insidious stealth weapon ever experienced in our collective history: PROCESSED FOOD laced with toxic substances.

The above article from Natural News about the Battle for Humanity makes some bold and daring statements. Those conclusions have been reached through the testing of many foods for heavy metals in a lab that was built for this specific purpose. The results are astounding, and far-reaching.

There are three videos that really need to be watched in order to understand just a little of what is happening to the food that you eat every day. The first chapter is about the lab - info that will help you understand how they reach their conclusions, how they test for heavy metals, and how a civilization was brought down by heavy metals. This chapter looks for foods that will capture heavy metals and bond with them. They've found two for aluminum but didn't say what they were, except that the only foods that will do this are whole foods. No processed food or partial food will do it. They have to be whole foods.

This chapter is about foods that will retain metals so they can be passed from the body. An example - you want to go out to dinner and eat fish but are concerned about mercury. Eat an apple before you go out. If there's mercury in the fish it will bond with the apple and be eliminated. Apple juice won't work as it isn't a whole food. Brown rice retains the metals, white rice releases them and they go into the bloodstream.

They have tested many boxes of cereals and most of them got good grades. I do want to stress that they only check for heavy metals. Those cereals are loaded with chemicals and GMO products and are not fit for human consumption, but that's another story.

While I was watching these videos I had a terrible headache. It started soon after dinner and I couldn't figure out where it came from. My entire dinner was organic. I had sprinkled Kelp Granules on my brown rice so when I saw they had tested some seaweed I clicked on the brand I used, Maine Coast, and found it not only has lots of metals, but it is loaded with aluminum. They tested the atmospheric air and found aluminum. It's falling on everything that grows, plus we're breathing it.

You really need to know this info. What they're doing has never been done before. They had to build a lab just for this. One video you must see is the one about Wheaties. They can actually be picked up with a magnet. And you can see the little slivers of lead in the flakes. It's unbelievable.

Glyphosate found to accumulate in animals and humans, leading to chronic illness

(NaturalNews) Yet another scientific study has debunked the myth that genetically modified organisms (GMOs) pose no threat whatsoever to animals or humans. A team of researchers from both Germany and Egypt, publishing their findings in the Journal of Environmental & Analytical Toxicology, discovered that animals fed GM feed had much higher levels of glyphosate, the active ingredient in Monsanto's Roundup herbicide, in their urine and organs than animals fed non-GM or organic feed.

This translated into higher levels of the toxic chemical in humans as well, according to the study, proving once again the inherent abnormalities of GMOs and their assimilation in mammals. Contrary to claims made by Monsanto that glyphosate is "safe" for humans, this new study shows that it most definitely accumulates in humans and animals, and is likely causing long-term health effects.

For the study, the team tested urine samples collected from GMO-fed dairy cows, as well as from hares, rabbits and humans exposed to milk from these cows. They also collected urine samples from dairy cows fed non-GM or organic feed, as well as from animals and humans exposed to this milk. Using the ELISA protocol and gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy (GC-MS) to analyze the samples, the team crunched the numbers and made comparisons.

They found that the cows not exposed to GMOs through their feed had significantly lower levels of glyphosate in their urine than cows fed GMO-containing feed. In the latter group, high concentrations of glyphosate and its metabolites were also found in the cows' intestines, livers, muscles, spleens and kidneys, demonstrating how the chemical progressively accumulates throughout the body.

Similar findings were observed in the hares, rabbits and humans exposed to GMOs. Conventional feeding protocols were found to produce much higher levels of glyphosate poisoning in humans than non-GM and organic feeding protocols. Correspondingly, the most chronically ill participants in the study tested high for glyphosate, while the healthiest participants had the lowest levels of the chemical in their bodies.

"The presence of glyphosate residues in both humans and animals could haul the entire population towards numerous health hazards," wrote the authors. Glyphosate linked to gastrointestinal disease, heart disease and cancer

As explained in the same study, glyphosate directly interferes with the body's P450 enzymes, which are responsible for modulating the synthesis of sex steroid hormones in the body. It is also believed that this inhibition results in the synergistic disruption of the biosynthesis of aromatic amino acids by gut bacteria, resulting in a variety of health conditions including gastrointestinal damage, obesity, diabetes, heart disease, depression, autism, infertility, dementia and cancer.

"[G]enotoxic [gene-damaging] activity, teratogenic [physiology-damaging] activity, and disturbance of the normal gut bacterial community due to glyphosate are reported," added the researchers.

Glyphosate accumulates in plants, growing soils

The public has repeatedly been assured by the industry and its media mouthpieces that glyphosate at current exposure levels is safe, and that the chemical does not accumulate in soils. But actual science says otherwise, showing that glyphosate actually accumulates in the leaves of plants, as well as in grains and fruit and the soils in which they are grown.

"Glyphosate residues cannot be removed by washing and they are not broken down by cooking," concludes the groundbreaking report. "Presence of glyphosate in urine and its accumulation in animal tissues is alarming even at low concentrations. ... Despite glyphosate's global dominance as an herbicide, there is little testing of glyphosate residues in animals and humans."

Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) have been released like a genie out of the bottle. Over twenty years ago the research started. The research continues in abandoned salt mines well below the surface of the earth with airlocks and lab conditions equal to the Andromeda Strain.

Currently, the big corporations involved have only been able to reconstruct two gene strands that are not part of the original RNA and DNA complex. However, sometimes it does not pay in the long term for such short-term profits. With this in mind, what is actually being developed?

The approved foods on the market in their unmarked packages start in a lab and go to fields. As they are an introduced species, the pollinators have not adapted in many cases to the new pollen structures. Some of the plants have very sticky pollens that may entrap smaller pollinators. The protein structures are not easy to digest or may be indigestible for certain insects causing starvation or digestive failure at the smallest level. Young newly hatched spiderlings eat pollen as well until they are large enough to eat larger prey.

Another impact has to do with pesticides and fertilizers. Some of these wonders require much more of these environmental impacting chemicals or pseudo-hormones released into the environment. Fertilizers cause algae blooms and other issues in our waterways and oceans. These blooms can destroy coral reefs, create jellyfish population increase and some of these algae have their own toxic chemical warfare happening anyway. These changes alter the entire ocean ecological structure and the impacts on the food chains are just being studied and documented.

Pesticides are a whole new ballgame to say the least in the picture. Some are poisons that cause chemical havoc to the environment and since the human raise is an apex eater, we accumulate these chemicals in our systems causing cancers and other diseases. Those of us old enough remember DDT and equivalents that are still in the environment. Now we have introduced our new chemical arsenal that uses base hormone information at the insect level that acts as “bug birth control”. The problem with this is that the same pseudo hormones also build up in our systems causing endocrine disruption and disease. The saying of just rinse it off just causing a build up in our water system as the water purification plants can not stop pseudo hormones or filter out the chemicals.

The earth is a closed system. What we alter, transform, dump, mix all remains in the system. With a little catalyst here and there the chemical we create can combine in new fashions as they meet in the ocean in non-lab conditions. Currently, we have basically combined some things that should never be. It would be similar to combining the movies “Attack of the Killer Tomatoes” with “Jurassic Park” and now we have “Revenge of Tomatosaurus X”. There is not a large enough ninja blender to mince this bad boy.

With some preliminary studies, when feeding GMO foods to decomposers that include Madagascar hissing cockroaches and isopods such as pillbugs (roly poly bugs) and sow bugs, their reproductive rates slowed down and their life spans shortened. It took about six months of non-GMO foods to stabilize the colonies. I did this in my living room and am having some others do similar tests to see if we can acquire more scientific data to dump into the mainstream science groups. I did not move the tests to the next level by feeding the GMO fed insects to spiders as I do not have enough spiders that I could use and the spiders are harder to raise and do not reproduce as often as the decomposers.

Biodiversity is key to all life and we cannot go back to the way it was but we must find a way to make sure it does not become any worse.

Now I am prepping to work with some marine biologists involving the Deep Horizon fiasco. The chemicals mixtures in crude oil are creating cancers in dolphins and even the once revered sharks have tumors. Now add some pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers and GMO run off into the mix and who knows what the chemical make up of the water will be in another ten years.

Mercury Poisoning Makes Birds Act Homosexual


Metal may influence sexual development in white ibises, expert says.

Male birds that eat mercury-contaminated food show "surprising" homosexual behavior, scientists have found.

In a recent experiment in captive white ibises, many of the males exposed to the metal chose other males as mates.

These "male-male pairs did everything that a heterosexual pair would do," said study leader Peter Frederick, a wildlife ecologist at the University of Florida in Gainesville.


"They built their nest, copulated together, stayed together on a nest for a month, even though there were no eggs—they did the whole nine yards."

Wild white ibises—among the most common birds in Florida's Everglades—are exposed daily to mercury through their diets of crustaceans and other small invertebrates.

The prey animals take up mercury that's long seeped into the Everglades as a byproduct of industrial processes such as waste incineration.

Recent pollution-control measures have "grossly reduced" the contamination, Frederick said. Even so, the new study shows that ibises experience "fairly major reproductive problems at pretty low levels of [mercury]."


[B]Contaminated Birds Produce Fewer Babies[/B]

During the five-year experiment, Frederick and colleague Nilmini Jayasena divided 160 young captive white ibises into four groups of equal numbers of males and females.

During the study period, male and female birds were allowed to choose their mates—an experimental first, according to the study authors.

"All other studies that involve reproduction in birds took a male and a female and put them in a cage," Frederick said. "Our finding, while novel, is the first time anybody's looked for it."


Starting at around 90 days of age, each of three groups was fed a diet containing either low, medium, or high amounts of mercury, based on a realistic range of exposures in the wild. A fourth control group ate mercury-free food.

Once the birds had reached sexual maturity at around a year old, homosexual bonding increased in all three groups exposed to mercury. This behavior led to a 13 to 15 percent decline in the number of young, compared to the mercury-free control group.


The metal also impacted heterosexual couples. Overall, female birds exposed to mercury yielded 35 percent fewer babies than the control group.

The biological mechanism for how the metal causes homosexual actions is not totally understood, Frederick added.

Mercury is a known endocrine disruptor—a substance that mimics or blocks the production of natural estrogen. In this case, exposed male birds' bodies produced more estrogen than testosterone as compared with control birds.

Though hormones can affect sexual behavior, estrogen or testosterone alone usually don't influence how a bird chooses a mate. This makes Frederick speculate that mercury exposure during the birds' sexual development may play a role.


Mercury Mysteries Remain

Many unknowns remain about the study and mercury's effects, Frederick warned.

The team did not have funding, for example, to examine whether taking mercury out of the birds' diets would stop the homosexual behavior.

But "my suspicion is none of the effects we saw are likely to be permanent," Frederick said. In general, mercury flushes from a bird's body within weeks if the animal isn't consistently exposed.

Frederick also emphasized that the study has no ramification for humans.

"There's a great tendency to extrapolate this study in an offhand fashion to mean, Oh if you eat mercury, you're going to be gay," he said.


In addition, the researchers can't say for sure whether homosexual behavior occurs in wild birds exposed to mercury.

But at least one expert praised the white ibis study for showing a plausible effect of mercury poisoning in the wild.

One of the "great frustrations" for scientists is lab studies on environmental contamination that don't predict what happens in the wild, Lou Guillette, a zoologist at the Medical University of South Carolina, said in a statement.

"So a study like this that looks at environmentally appropriate levels of mercury is probably the most powerful kind of study to tell us what's going on in the real world," said Guillette, who was not part of the research.

Study author Frederick added that the research "gives us a very clear prediction to test—to get out and see whether there are males pairing with males in nature."



"This study badly needs to be replicated."


The homosexual-bird research was published online December 1 in the journal Proceedings of the Royal Society B.

They say this study has no ramifications for humans but do they really know that? If so, how long have they known it? Vaccinations now contain mercury and formaldehyde, which is an embalming fluid. The people who are fierce about vaccinations say they will save lives but they are also fiercely for population control. The two stances don't seem to fit together. Children are being forced to take the Mercury-laden shots starting at birth. I've read an article in which someone stated that children don't belong to their parents but should be under government control from birth.

(NaturalNews) New research indicates that smoking isn't the only high-risk activity when it comes to developing lung cancer. It would seem that a diet high in sugar and starches could be a major cause as well, NBC News reports, even for non-smokers.

Researchers have discovered that people who remember eating more foods containing a higher glycemic index are also more likely to develop lung cancer. They note that glycemic index is a term that is very familiar to diabetics; it is ascribed to foods that raise blood sugar and stimulate the production of insulin, like bagels, some fruits, including melon and pineapple, and white rice.

NBC News reported that the aforementioned research is not the first that links the glycemic index with an increased risk of cancer. However, it is rare that the index is linked to cancer of the lungs, since that health condition is generally attributed to smoking.


As NBC News reported further:

"The team at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston studied 1,905 people who had just been diagnosed with lung cancer and compared them to 2,415 people without cancer. They quizzed them about their eating habits, smoking, income and other factors.

"People who ate the most foods with a high glycemic index were about 50 percent more likely to be in the lung cancer group than people who reported they ate the fewest high-glycemic foods, the team reported in the journal Cancer Epidemiology and Biomarkers."



Outsized insulin production may stimulate tumor growth

Oddly enough, researchers noted that the link was stronger among those who had never smoked; non-smokers were more than twice as likely to develop lung cancer if they said that they had consumed a high glycemic diet.

"The results from this study suggest that, besides maintaining healthy lifestyles, reducing the consumption of foods and beverages with high glycemic index may serve as a means to lower the risk of lung cancer," Dr. Xifeng Wu, who led the study, told NBC News.


How is this happening? Doctors aren't sure, but there's a theory that high-glycemic foods stimulate the body to make insulin, which in turn affects the growth of cells via compounds called insulin-like growth factors or IGF. Cancer processes amount to uncontrolled proliferation of cells, so it is possible that high glycemic foods are adding to the growth of small tumors.

"IGFs have been shown to play a critical role in regulating cell proliferation and differentiation in cancer and there is evidence to suggest that IGFs are elevated in lung cancer patients," wrote Wu's research team.



'Inconclusive'

In fact, that is suspected in several cancer types, the Today show reported.

"Previous studies have investigated the association between glycemic index, and the related measure glycemic load, and a variety of cancers including colorectal, stomach, pancreas, endometrial, ovarian, prostate, and thyroid but these studies are limited and results have been largely inconclusive," the researchers wrote.

The current study is also inconclusive. For one, researchers asked their subjects to remember what they had eaten; for another, the risk is an association. People who eat foods with high glycemic indexes may also engage in other activities that, combined, enhance the risk of cancer. Also, this particular study only focused on non-Hispanic whites.



NBC News reported further:

"Marji McCullough, an expert in nutritional epidemiology at the American Cancer Society, says it will be important to look at people who don't have cancer now and watch what they eat for years or decades, and see who develops cancer."

The number one cancer killer in the U.S. is lung cancer, claiming more than 150,000 lives a year. At first, it usually only causes vague symptoms; by the time most people are diagnosed, the disease has spread, and is more likely to be fatal.

Hearts of independence have eroded away to systems of collective dependence, as the comforts of life make it all too easy. For so many, the path is already laid out – what they eat, learn and put in their medicine cabinet is all handed down to them. And for some reason, the depression and disconnect is worse than ever. It can be seen in the eyes of some people, walking in lines with nothing to produce, nothing to explore, nothing to live for.

The earthly connection of Native American tribes with the land has given way to distanced relationships of craned over necks and glazed over eyes, consumed by social media. As the cameras watch and calculate everyone's next move, somewhere, where the herd thins, someone is still planting their food and reaping the harvest of their own doing.

A program such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program can be a valuable method to help people who honestly have no other way to feed themselves. However, this program is increasingly being used irresponsibly, and is enabling a dependence mindset. According to December 2015 statistics, the number of Americans in the foodstamp program has hit nearly 50 million. Where has the independent spirit of America gone? Where has it fled?

For 56 straight months, there have been over 45 million Americans receiving food stamps in order to eat. Participation in the SNAP program has increased by more than 1,470 percent since 1969, according to USDA data. In December 2015, the average monthly benefit of recipients was $256.51, but the total cost to taxpayers now exceeds $5.73 billion.


Americans are no longer predominantly fishers, hunters, gardeners, foragers and entrepreneurs. These statistics show that self sufficiency is dying, as more people rely on corporate government structures to pump out processed junk food just to eat.

It's the dependency, the "rich-owe-me" mindset which is plaguing people, stealing their drive and determination. Now, more people than ever before have no choice but to eat the foods they've been allowed to purchase with their stamps. This in turn allows recipients to keep more money in their pockets for things like cigarettes, alcohol and other drugs.


What if these programs taught people how to produce more of their own food? This new mindset would serve people better over time, instead of encouraging them to depend on free things always being there.


Worried that the unsustainable program could run out of money altogether, lawmakers in Congress are working on implementing new work requirements for Americans to receive food stamps. This is a step in the right direction, and even better would be a food growing/food sharing program that helped people reconnect with healthy foods that prevent cancer, diabetes and heart disease. Most of the products that food stamps buy only fuel people's health woes. Reconnecting capable people with growing natural foods and organic growing practices could liberate the health of their physical bodies, while restoring the vitality of their spirit.

By adding new productivity requirements and food growing education to food stamp programs, Americans could get back on track with the right mindset, and start blazing new trails that truly lead people out of poverty and health supression.

Even though they know the bare facts – fast food is high in fat, sodium and sugar and can cause diabetes, heart disease and obesity – they still eat tons of it every year. A 2013 Gallup survey reported that eight in 10 Americans eat fast food monthly, and almost half confessed to eating it at least once a week.

While most of us are aware that every mouthful of a McDonald’s meal contains fat-promoting ingredients, we often don’t realize how many chemicals are in there too. 1. Ammonium sulfate

Ammonium sulfate is an inorganic salt used as a fertilizer and flame retardant, and it is also added to Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide. But did you know that ammonium sulfate can also be found in a burger bun? This nasty chemical has been associated with irritation of the gastrointestinal tract, diarrhea, nausea and hormone disruption.


2. Silicone oil

If you are a chicken nuggets lover then you are a regular consumer of dimethylpolysiloxane, also known as silicone oil. Silicone oil is a synthetic material used to make contact lenses, caulking, silly putty and lubricants. The use of this non-biodegradable oil has been decreased in breast implants due to safety concerns.


3. Cysteine-L


Cysteine-L is an amino acid synthesized from human hair or duck feathers. It is used to flavor meat and soften bread and pastries. Consumption of cysteine-L has been linked to constipation, diarrhea, vomiting, rashes, fever, headaches, drowsiness, low blood pressure and liver problems.


4. TBHQ


TBHQ, or tertiary butylhydroquinone, is a petroleum-based additive found in cosmetic products and 18 different McDonald’s menu items. Although the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has classified this chemical as totally safe for human consumption, long-term use can result in aggravation of ADHD symptoms, stomach cancer, damaged DNA and death.


5. Propylene glycol

Found in anti-freeze, e-cigarettes and fast food, propylene glycol can cause damage to the central nervous system and worsen existing allergies and eye and skin conditions.


6. Prescription drugs

Researchers at the Johns Hopkins University found alarming levels of antidepressants and other prescription, over-the-counter and banned drugs in chicken feed and chicken products from fast food restaurants. Because McDonald’s doesn’t use organic chicken, their chicken products very likely contain traces of prescription medications or antibiotics.


7. Dimethylpolysiloxane

Dimethylpolysiloxane is often added to cooking oils used to prepare McDonald’s filet-o-fish, chicken nuggets and French fries. Besides being found in most fried fast foods, dimethylpolysiloxane is also utilized in the production of silly putty, contact lenses, caulking, shampoos and conditioners, breast implants, cosmetics, polishes and heat resistant tiles.


8. Carminic acid

Carminic acid is a red food dye synthesized by cochineal beetles. It is often added to fast food meats to give them a more vibrant and appealing color. Until 2009, carmine, cochineal extract or natural red 4, were classified as “natural dyes.” These days, however, the FDA requires carmine and cochineal extract to be explicitly identified in ingredient lists because they can cause severe allergic reactions in some people.


9. Cellulose

While cellulose may be a natural product produced from wood pulp, who wants to eat lots of indigestible wood fibers? Cellulose is added to nearly every fast food item as a way to add volume. It can be found in cheese, salad dressing, muffins and strawberry syrup, among many others. You name it, and chances are wood pulp is in there.



10. Silicon dioxide

Also known as silica or industrial sand, silicon dioxide is used to make glass, optical fibers and cement. The fast food industry often adds it to meat and sauces to keep them from clumping together. In an industrial setting, workers handling silicon dioxide wear hazmat suits and masks. Nonetheless, the FDA sees no harm in adding this industrial chemical to your burger bun.
Still lovin’ it? Next time you are looking for a quick meal, you may want to think twice before heading to the closest McDonald’s restaurant.

I've always had a huge interest in 'alternative' medicine and read a lot about the importance of nature on our health. And so I've read about the dandelion root as well.

I also watched the video and listened to the story about picking Dandelion roots in Belgium and I had to laugh so hard
I mean in my country the majority of the people consider the Dandelion to be weed which needs to be exterminated straight away. So I can imagine what probably went on in the heads of this management executives
For instance, I think the Dandelion is of great interest healthwise but I also think it's a beautiful flower. I really like it a lot and we have lots of them in our backyard during the summer and even my family thinks this is weird. So they're always on our case to get rid of this 'weed' ...
I've never eaten it. Has anyone ever tried it?

I can get the leaves at Whole Foods market, young and tender, and they are really good steamed. They also have the Organic Roasted Dandelion Root tea. It's in a class by itself.

Dandelions are considered a weed here in the US as well. They grow everywhere, and make nice blooms. It's when they make that puffy little ball that rides the wind and makes new ones all over your lawn that they become a problem for most people. If you pick off those little balls early, then Dandelions as a plant aren't so bad! As a food they're terrific.

You don't have to be Belgian to find that Dandelion story funny! Thats a really good video.
