Now I'm shattered. I've so been looking forward to seeing him! He hasn't cancelled a con in ages, and now this! I've just lost all my interest in the event, but since I've already paid for the tickets I guess I should go for one day and see Richard at least.

Please tell me you're only joking...

Unfortunately this 'neighbourhood' means mostly the UK, which is normally a bit far from here. Even Belgium in October will not happen for me. But I'm so disappointed, I'm seriously considering flying over to England for a weekend next year, if he really does another round of Columbo over there! Actually - I could have done that this year, if I hadn't waited for the con...

@Christy: true, Richard can be very charming and I sure like him, but...he's not Dirk and I seem to prefer Dirk's personality over Richard's these days (sorry, Richard).

if he had to cancel a con appearance that I planned to attend ...sadly, it happens. And (before any1 'pounces' on me..) I know/and understand that it can't be helped !

I sincerely hope that it works out for you to see him as Columbo (if, like you say-he does another 'round') !!

I am, believe me, more than I can say. I was grumpy all day today

Especially since I know that there aren't so many cons in driving distance of my place and the chance to see Dirk here is more than slim

Thanks for your sweet words, my friend. Yes, you do know, I've pestered you with this subject more than enough

However, things happen and maybe I'll get another chance. The tickets are paid and I'm still going. Seeing Richard again after a decade will be nice as well. It's expensive enough with tickets and hotel, so I'll do my very best to enjoy the weekend, even if Dirk is not there

Anyone here also going to FACTS Belgium? I am planning to go (Gent is 2 hours driving but we are taking the kids and are going to make it a fun day out!) I guess I will bring my photo with D&D for them both to sign AND Dirks book "And then we went fishing".
Am also thinking about taking some miso with me... Anyone any tips on what else I could bring for him?
