LEGEND SOCCER COMPANY
Do you like soccer (or, as the rest of the world calls it, football)? Dirk does in a big way, and it has become a family affair.

Dirk's son Roland and 2 friends have started Legend Soccer Company,  developing innovative, sustainable soccer gear (and only soccer gear). Learn about Legend Soccer Company at the link above. Dirk not only endorses Legend Soccer, he's involved with it - "and not only because Roland is my son."

Exclamation Back in time convention in Germany - Oberhausen June 22/23

Hey folks,

last night I found an Instragram anouncement that Dirk will be at the Back in time convention in Germany / Oberhausen this summer.

@John: Can you confirm this as this is very fresh news?

More information here:

Unfortunately all the links are in German only. But I'm happy to help out if you have any questions.

A lil summary for you so you get a few pointers before you are lost in google translate…

This is a convention focused on the 80s, it's not SciFi centered (but doesn't exclude it either). The event will take place in the "Turbinenhalle" in Oberhausen which is a large former industial building with lots of space. The convention will take place on 10,000 sqm (~110,000 sq. ft) in 3 halls on 2 levels. There will not only be the actors but also a lot of vehicles that were a huge part of the shows and movies of the 80s. Of course you'll also find lots of merchants there.

As for the tickets, they have different categories.

Day passes (Tagesticket) for Saturday and Sunday cost €20 each + €2.25 VAT.

VIP Gold Ticket costs €199 + €11.84 VAT (on both days early bird entry half an hour before the normal ticket holders, reserved seats in rows 2-5 at the panels, VIP free pass for the photoshoots (= no waiting), access to VIP chill out zone, 1 autograph voucher (worth €20), 1 photoshoot voucher (worth €20), 1 photoshoot you with ALL stars, 1 Back in time art print, 1 Back in time key chain, 1 Back in time bag)

VIP all inclusive Ticket €799 incl. VAT (on both days early bird entry half an hour before the normal ticket holders, reserved seats in rows 1-2 at the panels, 1 autograph per actor included, 1 photoshoot per actor included, 1 photoshoot you with ALL stars, 1 Back in time art print, 1 Back in time key chain, 1 Back in time bag)

Add on ticket Dinner with the Stars €59 + €4.34 VAT (takes place Saturday evening at 8.30 CET, includes a buffet, drinks not included, only 50 tickets available)

Several photoshoot and autograph tickets for all the actors which you can see on the website (I'm sure you'll find them even if you don't speak German )

You can pay with Mastercard, VISA and AMEX or direct Giro pay (for German folks).

I'll definitely go!

This is very fresh news! I can't definitively confirm, but based on the evidence (including the fact Dirk thoroughly enjoys the time he can spend in Germany) I rather suspect he's going.

But I'll let you know for sure.

FYI as they just posted it on their Facebook: VIP and dinner tickets are almost sold out.

Also, if you plan on travelling by car, there is a huge parking space at the convention (you gotta pay a fee though). This might be getting interesting as the 3 hotels in close proximity are about to be fully booked as well...

Yes, Dirk loves his fans in Germany and all of Europe, and he always has a good time when he's there.

But I'm afraid I have to tell you that a conflict has developed (not with the promoters, more a timing/calendaring type thing) and Dirk has had to withdraw from this convention. It's a great disappointment all the way around; in addition to missing all his fans, I'm sure Dirk would have loved to see Noah, since Noah missed All-Con in Dallas a couple of weeks ago.

So I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I did promise to keep you updated, and I only found out tonight. I will continue to keep you updated as soon as I learn anything new.

Ugh, that's indeed bad news… considering that I already booked everything… But that's a risk we always have to take. I already made this experience in the past (not with Dirk as guest tho). I'm disappointed, yes. But not mad, things like that happen. And honestly, not even half a year ago I didn't even know that Dirk does conventions...

I'll go to the con anyways, prolly even with a colleague cuz the 80s were our youth and it'll be lovely to meet a bunch of folks around our age and just enjoy the old times.

I hope Dirk will be able to come to Europe again, I'd love to see him live when he shares all his deep thoughts. And the funny ones, too. :P

I'm a bit disappointed and sad too, Melli. Was looking forward to go to this con, but made no arrangements yet.

I do hope he'll come to Europe somewhere in the near future. I always have fun meeting up with him.

Hope you'll have fun at the con.

I can tell you that Dirk is honestly quite disappointed about it, too. As I said, these things happen and they're nobody's fault, but he really hates when he has to cancel.

Of course, I'll keep everybody posted about anything new that comes along.

Thanks, John. It's much appreciated that you keep us informed.

I hope Dirk doesn't feel too bad about it. Like you said things like that happen and I understand. Things you didn't have on your radar suddenly pop up and shift priorities. I'll have lots of fun at the con, no doubt about it. And hey, Noah will be there!

Thank you, John. I'm sure nobody will blame him and we all understand that these things sometimes do happen like you said.

We will just keep on liking him And hoping another con will come along.

Drats, it was just announced that the convention is cancelled after 2 more guests had to cancel their appearance. So I won't even get to see Noah.
